Understanding The Basics
A website is no use to you if your target audience never sees it. Driving relevant people to your site is essential. Whilst you should never overlook the value of any traditional advertising and marketing that has worked for you in the past, the importance of being found on major search engines, especially Google, cannot be overstated.
Specifically, you need to be found with the phrases actually used by your target audience (which sometimes can be very different to phrases that people within the trade may use themselves).
Google Search Results - Different Types
There are two main types of search engine listings on Google:
- 'Organic' or Free listings
- 'AdWords' or Paid listings.
it is important to understand the differences and relative advantages and disadvantages between the two. We would be pleased to discuss these with you in some detail.
SEO - Search Engine Optimisation
'Organic Listings" are FREE listings that appear on Google, typically on the left hand side.
Whilst Google does not charge for Organic listings, if your site is not very well optimised for relevant key phrases you may be difficult or impossible to find. Optimisation requires skill and judgement, and involves making changes to site content and 'titles and tags', (amongst other things).

PPC - Pay Per Click
Google AdWords are Paid Listings that appear on Google, typically down the right hand side.
AdWords can be set up quickly, with your site listed under a wide range of phrases from the day it goes live. You pay a fee for every visitor to your site following a click on your Ad, but have full control over budget.
