No matter how much effort is put into the design of your site, "content is king".
Photographs - Photography and Library Images
Whilst some clients already have high quality professional photographs of their "products, people and places", many do not.
It is important that your site content incorporates high quality images - no matter what the nature of your business. Quite often, these images are what we call "sound bite images" - i.e. images that are either "abstract" or have some relevance or "point", but are there primarily to provide visual impact and colour. In other instances these images may be very specific, for example illustrating a specific product.
Typically, each page contains a "header image", and this is often in a strong "landscape" format, requiring an image that can be suitably cropped. This should be regarded as a "minimum", obviously there may be pages requiring multiple image - especially where illustrating specific products or similar.
If you do not have sufficient images suitable for your site, there are two solutions we can offer you:
- Photography
We own professional quality digital SLR cameras (Canon EOS 5D and 7D) and a wide range of lenses covering everything between extreme wide angle and extreme telephoto, and also "macro" (close ups). We also own Flash and Ring Flash equipment (the latter suitable for close ups of smaller items). We do not have formal studio facilities, but our equipment and skills are more than adequate for most needs.
We charge on an hourly basis, including travel time and post-production time (for example where "cut outs" are required).
In certain situations we provide photography services free of charge (i.e. for new sites, where the requirements are modest and can be accommodated when we visit to collect material for the main content of the site).
- Source Images from an Image Library
This solution is often suitable and cost effective where relevant "sound bite images" are required, i.e. images of relevant or abstract subject matter rather than images your own "products, people or places".
Prices can vary substantially, but more often than not we can source suitable images for between £7 and £20 per image (+VAT).
Video and Presentation
Video is rapidly becoming more and more widely used on the Internet - for a range of purposes including training, presentations and "television" type advertising. As connection speeds increase this will become more and more common, but is already very practical at typical broadband speeds.
Through a combination of in-house facilities and working with associates, we are able to provide clients with sophisticated video production. This not only covers video suitable for inclusion on the web, but also full DVD quality corporate videos.
We have access to a number of national and local television presenters who would be pleased to work with our clients on video production - resulting in promotional material fronted by an instantly recognisable personality. Alternatively, we can organise "voice overs" presented by instantly recognisable voices from national radio.
